Untitled
Have you noticed that some artists title their work ‘Untitled 2’, or numbers like “Quartet in E, No. 9”?
The urge to name things was too strong in me to understand this type of artist. Sure, once and again, I will have an epiphany and name the piece ‘Untitled’, but mostly as a nod to other artists naming things Untitled, essentially for me it’s to get out of the hour-long session of coming up with good names for everything.
However it you get the job where you can name streets, I decided not to find out how, because I would get lost to time in a job like that. I would break rank and hierarchy to arguer with the boss about naming a street Homonculus Street or Footnote Alleyway.
Today I was reminded of a section of my city that uses the alphabet to organize streets like A St., B St., C St., or F Street, and I find that much more useful at least than most street names. Washington Avenue for instance. I lived on one as a kid in Natick, Massachusetts, and now I live off one in Portland, Maine. Every town basically has a Washington Street. I’ve lost my religion because of boring naming choices like this. And they seem to be named after some guy every time, some guy that just HAD to have a tribute by having inanimate things named after him.
Things should have a name based on how they are. The name of a rose matters because that way we all know what species of vegetation we are taking about. Yellow climbing roses are toxic and should not be eaten, but the old garden rose is perfectly fine for humans and pets.
If a street is particularly dangerous it should be called 139th and Lennox, or perhaps even Dangerzone Rd. or Stayaway Boulevard. You see my point here?
I don’t mind if you missed me. I miss you whenever you’re not here! …Moving on!

Every creation is alive
That’s the moral of Frankenstein. Make sure you don’t sew too many dead things together, or else don’t be surprised when it does something other than you want it to.
Take the flowers in the doodle below. The first is the Bilge Harumph, it is a plant that disintegrates and releases spores to inseminate its female plant, that looks more like a plain ole plane tree. The bottom flower is an Floxen Axe-head, and it is known for its sharp points that can draw blood that it feasts upon.

Medicine
When you take medicine, you might consider whether it’s officially medicine, because it’s not prescribed by a doctor. However, that does not seem to be the street-wise definition of medicine. If you asked anyone, they would probably define medicine as something that helps you.
You can avoid undesirable outcomes like headaches or even migraines using the over-the-counter medicine called Ibuprofen. It reduces swelling and blocks pain receptors to boot. Pretty common. I bet you’re taking some right now, ain’tcha, chum?
When you take recreational substances like reefer and alcool as medicine, this may also be you taking medicine. But its intake is regulated only by you. Something about that is a little corrupt. Of course you can always go legit and put it on the books, I am not referring to the act of being prescribed, but the intake once medicine is acquired.
At the same locus as the corruption, the medicine helps you. It changes you for the preferred. If you are depressed and want to not be depressed, medicine changes your brain chemistry to the brain chemistry of a non-depressed person. You take medicine, you morph into another person, a person who feels better.
When you become a person that feels better, you are still yourself. You may feel free of pain, of a state of mind you do not prefer.
Is it okay to want to change yourself to a self you prefer? Christian Scientists don’t take asprin/ibuprofen/tylenol. They go raw to feel it all. Sometimes I wonder are they right? Should I experience whatever biological baseline I was meant to experience?
Common usage is that, you ought to use medicine to get better. You ought to use medicine to feel better and to heal. You should use medicine to have a mental state you and others prefer, that helps you get along more easily.
I like to question things I take for granted, and make sure my granted assumptions are solid.
Should we all get along more easily, and take our medicine?
Is there value in suffering and accepting a fate we don’t need to accept?
